They're off! – Carrera Panamericana 2009

Last Tuesday (sorry this is late, Su and I went to Louisiana for a hydroplane race over the weekend), I drove up to Predator Performance’s shop(s) in Largo in time to see “the lads” departing for that great adventure, the Carrera Panamericana, the 2,000 mile tarmac rally taking place this week, staged from Oaxaca to the border with America.

As you can see in the accompanying photos, the nine cars were being transported there on an assortment of trailers and David Hinton was expecting to be at the border of Texas and Mexico within four days. What a trip!

But that’s only the start. Once over the border, the transporters have to drive another 2,000 miles to Oaxaca for the start of the rally. Oh boy. This morning, I checked with Predator’s Communications Director, Lauren Ligas, who told me that they’re all over the border and heading down to Oaxaca as I write.

We want to wish George Tuma, Jim Pace, Rob Summerour, Danny Stewart, Chris Nussbaum, Byron deFoor, Larry Ligas, Mike Harris, David Hinton, Russell Gee, C.H. Dehann and Bud Feldkamp all the very best.

Qualifying is on Thursday and the rally starts on Friday. For more information and to follow the rally, go to:

Good luck lads!
