Lola T70 Spyders
SL70/6

SL70/6 was invoiced to John Mecom on 28th April 1965 for Walt Hansgen to drive. (Rose Bud Racing Team, Houston, Texas for USRRC races. Grey. Primer?) No gearbox number on the invoice, as Hansgen had crashed /3 and /6 had that car’s engine and gearbox installed. Walt Hansgen raced this T70 for Mecom’s team with success in 1965. He crashed it in practice at the end of the season at Las Vegas in 1965. The crew took out the engine and installed it into the T70 that Jackie Stewart drove at Riverside – Presumably SL70/17. (Hill drove a McLaren in the race.)

Presumably, /6 was repaired, as it was sold to Hoss Cartwright of "Bonanza" fame for John Cannon and Jack Saunders to race.

We do not know what happened to SL70/6 after this until a car with this identity turned up with Mike Smith in Florida in the late 1980’s. This car was painted yellow with black stripes. Smith sold it to a Dr. Wagner in Germany and /6 has been sold on since.
