Lola T70 Spyders
SL70/12

U.S.A. John Mecom. No gearbox number.

1965:
31/10: Los Angeles Times GP, Riverside: P. Jones, #18; DNF when in 4th.
14/11: Stardust GP, Las Vegas: P. Jones; DNF when leading the race.

John Mecom Senior is certain that they purchased tub 13 as a replacement for chassis 12, which was wrecked early on in its life. He could not remember the driver’s name but he said that he raced it at several USRRC events before crashing it in qualifying somewhere. John says that he remembers this well because the tub came without a chassis plate and simply had SL/13 stamped into the bulkhead.

SL70/13

U.S.A. John Mecom. Spare tub.

The chassis number of this T70 is stamped into the top of the front bulkhead; used as a replacement for SL70/12.

Imported from Chuck Haines via Ian Webb in 1980 (ish) into the U.K.

1980: Sold to Nigel Hulme.
1981: Sold to Colin Parry Williams who raced it extensively in Supersports series.
In January 1997 the car was dismantled for a re-build. The front and rear suspension mountings had anti-dive built in and the whole tub has a nose-down attitude and is one inch shorter than a standard Mark II.

1997: Restored by Clive Robinson Engineering, U.K.
2003: Sold to present owner, U.K.
