19/12/65: Sold to John Mecom.
Sold to John ‘Buck’ Fulp. Chevrolet engine. 58 mm side draft Webers carburetors, small brakes.
Gearbox No: LG500-41.
John "Buck" Fulp’s second T70 with which he won at Riverside and placed second in the USRRC Championship.
Fulp then won three victories with the car.
In the USRRC series, near the end of the Las Vegas race (first round), Fulp was doing well when a rock broke his goggles and cut his eyehe retired. He was okay for the next race, Riverside, which he won but then the eye got infected and he missed the following two races. He got back in time for Watkins Glen and won. He skipped the West Coast trip to Kent but got third at Mid-Ohio. In the final round at Road America he was leading late in the race, having set fastest lap, and was all set to win the race and the Series when the shifter base broke, leaving him without gear selection. The resulting DNF cost him the championship by one point!
At the end of the season SL70/18 went to Goodyear, who had given Fulp some sponsorship during the season. Fulp doesn’t know what happened after that but Roger McKluskey worked for Goodyear and maybe drove the car.
