This is an extremely fast, 3.2-liter, big single turbo-engined Porsche 935, which, with the right driver aboard, is fully capable of beating all the “bodyshell” based Porsche 935K3s at the Monterey Historics.

This tube-framed 935 was built in America in 1982 (probably at GAACO) and was first sold to Luis Mendez and raced with an RSR motor. Then Kikos Fonseca bought the car and put a 935 motor in it and raced it. Later on, a 962 motor was purchased from Al Holbert (Motorsport) and they raced it in IMSA in the 1985 and 1987 IMSA seasons with the 962 motor and “upside down” gearbox. This was a very fast car and it was raced in the GTO class.

0161R made its way back down to South America and raced there for a while. When the present owner bought the car it was in Coca Cola Livery with a 935 body on it, as it is today. Dennis Aase drove the car a couple of times, and then it was owned by Dave Hall from Portland, Oregon. It was later sold to his partner.

The car runs very fast, has titanium axles, cockpit adjustable front sway bar, Bosch injection and new fuel cell.

When the motor was rebuilt, the owner upgraded the intake to the later 962 plenum chamber. From past experience, power-wise at 1.2 bar this car at Daytona Rennsport was as fast on the banking as the other good 935’s.

This car has IMSA history going back from the mid 80’s, first with Luis Mendez and then Kikos Fonseca who installed the 962 Motronic motor when he raced it as a 934 in the GTO class.
