Effectively, the Porsche GT2 was a 90’s edition of the immortal 935.

The 1993 season saw a return to GT racing, after the glorious Group C and GTP cars had faded from view. The Porsche 911S LM turbo was developed to run at Le Mans that year and at Daytona and Sebring at the beginning of 1994. This car carried a 930 turbo engine, built to IMSA GTP standard, that is, fully air-cooled, single plug per cylinder and upright fan. With 0.9 bar boost, 505 p.s. was claimed for it. This car won it's class at Sebring, retired at Le Mans after a collision and, fitted with 3.6-liter engine, retired at Daytona due to overheating. However, a privately-entered 911S LM turbo placed second overall in this race.

These 911S LM turbos (to give them their factory name) led on to the customer car that followed, the GT2. This had a twin turbo M64/60 engine of 3.6-liters. 600 horsepower was quoted but this was almost certainly under rated. A Bosch Motronic engine management system was fitted, together with a six speed gearbox. Suspension was similar to the Type 993 Carrera Cup cars with new multi-link rear suspension, and the bodywork was extensively lightened, using Kevlar and aluminum panels. Weight was 1,150 kilos (about 2,550 pounds). 0 to 62mph was 4.4 seconds and top speed (depending on gearing) was 181 mph.

The GT2 that we are offering here is a particularly “American” car, with Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen history from 1995 on. (see below). The previous owner, Art Pilla, entered it in all the major “Classic” American Endurance races. There is now a race series for these cars in Europe for “Gentleman” drivers and they have become very desirable. Price $150,000.00 ready to race.

The engine is brand new, with new Motec M48 electronic management system with advanced tuning and Lambda options.
