It’s almost impossible to overstate the impact that the Porsche RSR Carrera had on GT racing around the World.

In my book, "R to GT3R - The Racing Porsches 911 and 930" (Gryfon Publishers - 2003), I wrote: "It is difficult to compare racing cars of different eras. However, the only car with which the 1974 RSR Carrera can be compared (with) is the 1963 Ferrari GTO."

"There are many similarities. Both cars were built by factories with long and successful racing backgrounds and histories. Both cars were raced by mainly amateur, "Gentlemen" drivers. Both cars were of 3-liters in engine capacity and both cars were utterly dominant in the up-to-three liter GT class of their day (the sixties and seventies). Indeed, it can be argued that the RSR was even more successful than the Ferrari, for it raced on successfully for many years, winning International long-distance races outright as late as five years after its introduction."

This car is one of the most stunning and accurate replicas RSRs it has been my pleasure to deal with. Built in the late 1980s by John Greasley’s G-Force in Aylesbury, England, for a wealthy property developer, this car was built upon a correct, 1974 chassis. It took part in (and won it’s class) the BRDC GT Championship.

As you can see from the photographs, it has all correct center lock wheels, coil spring RSR suspension, RSR style brakes, and is LHD.

The whole car has been totally rebuilt since coming to America in 2004 and has had the 3.5-liter twin-plug engine totally rebuilt with crank fired electronic ignition, PMO 50 carburetors, new barrels and pistons, raised compression ratio and the newer style racing oil pump. A later style IMSA type front spoiler has also been fitted and the whole car repainted.

Not cheap, but when you want the best…..$125,000.
