The GKW was designed and built by Gabriele Gottifredi in his workshops at Olgiate Molgora near Monza, Italy in 1986. Constructed around a 956/962-type engine and gearbox, the GKW used a traditional monocoque chassis of riveted and bonded aluminum. It was built to be as small as possible, to make the car eligible for the C2 category.

The GKW featured push-rod front and conventional wishbone and outboard coil spring/damper unit rear suspension and was displayed at Monza in 1987 and 1988, during the weekends of the 1000 kms races there and then tested and “sorted”.

Since that time, the car has undergone a “back to basics” restoration, with everything stripped back to bare metal/fiberglass, all completely re-worked (where necessary) and all re-assembled perfectly, together with a completely overhauled 956 engine and gearbox. (The current owner is a gear manufacturer, so you can imagine how much attention has been paid to just that one aspect of the car!)

The GKW is eligible for Group C in Europe and GTP racing in America. A little jewel in its own right and very quick.
