When introduced, the Lotus 23B swept all before it in the Sports-racing classes it ran in.

Today, Lotus 23Bs are as popular as ever, due to their eligibility for the best racing organizations around the World and their low cost of running.

This race ready Lotus 23B was originally delivered to Ian Phillips in England, painted white and with a 1600cc Lotus-Ford Twin Cam engine fitted.

Exactly what Mr. Phillips achieved with the car, we are not sure of at the moment but it arrived in the US shortly afterwards and was raced in the 60s and 70s by Ed Cicotte (all documented). For some time it had a F1 Climax V8 with Colotti transmission and also a 2.0-liter BMW engine.

Ed Cicotte sold the car in the 70s to Ed Dickenson, who continued racing the car with the BMW engine. Sometime around 1985 he began to convert the car back to a Lotus Twin Cam, but the project was never finished.

Mr. Dickenson died in 2002 and the car came to its current owner, making just four owners in all! The restoration was then finished to original 23B specifications including the 1600 Twin Cam motor and Hewland 5-speed transmission.

Its current owner has successfully raced the car since 2004.

The MWE built Lotus Ford engine has less than 6 hours of running time and produces 195 hp with 140 ft/lbs of torque.

Spare parts include a Ted Wenz-prepared engine block, steel crankshaft, 5-port oil pump, small valve head, clutch, rear body, doors, newly rebuilt carburetors, distributor and a transmission case.
